Safeieh Morshed Ajlone Architect

“When I was young I really felt sad for those who lived in refugee camps in Jerusalem suburbs and wished to change their lives, whenever I pass by Qalandia Refugee Camp I remember that all what crosses my mind is how can I renovate, rehabilitate and redesign their buildings, I can only see blocks placed next to each other with no privacy, no sufficient place for each family, experiencing unhealthy environment, living in politically neglected area, I feel upset to see people from my same community living in such mal conditions and I wish to play an important role in getting them out of their needy neighborhoods and provide better lives for them and consequently; enhance their lifestyle and their future”. That was what Safeieh uttered when I asked her: “What was the reason behind your architecture studies at Birzeit University?”.

Safeieh’s professional career life began with a travel to the UK; along with other colleagues in the university she won a prize, called “Hult Prize” as they took the 1^st place in a contest on a country level. Then she worked in a local engineering office in Jerusalem for 3 months in renovation and restoration. Later on, Safeieh joined Imad Abu Khdair “Dour office” – Engineering consultant Office – she stayed there for almost two years, it was such a fruitful experience to her as she learnt all the related issues to engineering rules &regulations in the municipality of Jerusalem as well as licensing and “Tabo” issues, although this gave her the base for learning the rules that will enable her to further continue, but that was not her passion, she aimed to further develop her skills in design (interior and exterior) as well as urban planning, this was her main focus in all the experiences and jobs that she sought for.

Many opportunities knocked her door but none of them was in the path that Safeieh wanted to follow, it was very hard to say no to such valuable opportunities but her passion for fulfilling her preset goal overweigh these chances. This was her first step in opening up her own business and start working as freelancer, she began with engineering offices, and had been in charge of specific projects, I tried to leave each space I worked in with good reputation and good image.

Station – J was the first step I took in my entrepreneurship journey, I had a private office here to start working for my own. I worked in interior as well as exterior design and conducted up till now one AutoCAD course where I aided university students who need support. The First project I took was in interior design, I was responsible for designing an old house from A to Z, and currently I’m working hard on a huge project that will further mark my name in this field and hopefully will broaden my horizons more and more.

Experts and specialists who work in this field don’t have that deep look for “Architecture”, specially here in Jerusalem with the non-stop restrictions, they only design a standard home or school where it perfectly meets the municipality regulations, no time for innovation and creation, they don’t think of the designed space that it will be the space that individuals will spend most of their time in, they don’t think about the idea of designing a “Concept”.

“I vowed to myself whatever project I will engage myself in, I will design it in the best version in terms of way of living, inside as well as outside design, comfortable space. Also, Beautification is an important ingredient to me”.  Safeieh told me.

Besides my professional career, I always gave priority to fashion and styling, it was my passion from a very young age and started it by creating a platform on social media by featuring Hijabi styles and then decided just recently to further scale it up to a business page on social media named “5sisters online store”, you can find it on Instagram app.

The reason behind the name of my business is my support system “my whole family”, I named it Safeieh Morshed Ajlone, anything in my life is dedicated to them and I owe them so much of my success and any future achievement I will fulfill.

” لما كنت صغيرة كنت كتير أتدايق على الناس الي عايشين بالمخيمات وبظروف صعبة، كنت كل ما أمرق من مخيم قلنديا أحزن على اناس الي عايشين هناك هادا الاشي ال خلاني أفكر اني أدرس هندسة لما أكبر عشان أساهم في ترميم وتأهيل مثل هاي المناطق عشان نوفر لسكانها ظروف معيشية أفضل ويتخلصو من العيش في مكان غير متوفر فيه أمان وراحة وخصوصية، بالاضافة لتوفير مساحات صحية انهم يعيشو فيها وبالتالي يكون الي دور في تغيير حياتهم للأفضل “. هيك جاوبت علي صفية لما سألتها عن السبب وراء دراستها هندسة مماري في جامعة بيرزيت.

حياة صفية المهنية بدأت بسفرة لبريطانيا لما فازت هي و كمان 3 زميلات الها بالجامعة بمسابقة الها علاقة بالهندسة عمستوى فلسطين. بعدها، اشتغلت صفية مع عدد من المكاتب الهندسية المحلية بالقدس بأكتر من مجال: الترميم والتأهيل ، بالاضافة للبناء والترخيص والقوانين الي بتفرضها بلدية القدس بمجال الهندسة والبناء، اكتسبت صفية خبرة عالية بهادا المجال والي وفرلها الأساس بمجال القوانين والطابا والرخص الخاصة ببلدية القدس والي هو اشي كتير مهم لأي مهندس انو يكون عندو خبرة فيها،  بس برضة مش هادا المجالالي كانت صفية اتدور عليه لانو كان حلمها اتكمل بمجال التصميم الداخلي والخارجي والتخطيط المدني. كتير فرص أجت لصفية بس ما كانت بالمجال الصح الي هي بدها اتطور حالها فيه، وهون كانت البداية الها انها تفتح مشروعها الخاص فيها.

انضمامي لمجتمع ” محطة القدس” هو أول خطوة كانت لصفية بانها تبدا برحتلها الريادية. ” حصلت على مكتب خاص بمحطة القدس عشان أشتغل عمشروعي وأركز أكتر عأهدافي، نفذت دورة اوتوكاد للمحتاجين خبرة بهادا المجال، وبساعد دايما طلاب الجامعة الي بحاجة لدعم بالامور النظرية بالهندسة. أول مشروع أخدتو باسمي كان تصميم بيت قديم من الداخل ومن الخارج، كنت مسؤولة  عنو من الألف للياء، وحاليا عم بشتغل على مشروع ضخم وكبير رح يبرز اسمي بهادا المجال ويميز شغلي وبالتالي رح تتوسع أفاقي أكتر وأكتر.

المهندسين وأي فرد مختص بمجال الهندسة ما بنظرة لهندسة المعماري نظرة عميقة على انو هادا المجال بمثابة فن، خصوصي عنا هون بمدينة القدس مع القيود والقوانين الي ما بتخلص والمعقدة، بصممو بناية أو بيت أو حتى مدرسة بالمعايير المعروفة من دون لمسة فن أو ابداع أو الخروج عن المألوف.

” أخدت عهد على نفسي انو اي مشروع رح أدخل فيه رح اصممو بأفضل طريقة ممكنة ويخدم سكانو بأحسن صورة من ناحية الشكل الخارجي او الداخلي أوالمساحة الواسعة والمريحة أو من ناحية طريقة معيشة، حتى عنصر التجميل هو عنصر ممهم بتصاميمي”. 

بالاضافة لحياتي المهنية، كان دايما عندي شغف وحب للموضة والأزياء، ودايما كنت أعطيه أولوية، بديتو بصفحة عالسوشال ميديا بعرض فيها ستايلات مختلفة للألبسة الحجابية لانو غي عنا نقص بهادا المجال وحبيت اني أطورو وأفتح صفحة بيزنس عالانستغرام سميتو باسم 5 sisters online store ، بتلاقوه بهادا الاسم على تطبيق الانستغرام.

 

السبب كان وراء تسميتي لمشروعي بهادا الاسم هو مصدر دعمي الدائم، عائلتي كنت معنية انو اسمهم يظهر بمشروعي لانو كل نجاح وسعادة أنا فيها هم سببه، وأقل ما ممكن اعطيهم بالمقابل هو استخدام اسمهم عشان اشارك معهم هاد النجاح”.
